When we reopened the Smokehouse in May we made some changes, starting with phasing out tipping and introducing a 15% service charge to all orders.

The change allows our Crewmembers to earn a livable wage and benefits such as paid sick leave and time off. It's included it in the price of your meal, and you will not be asked for a tip at checkout.

The discriminatory history of tipping is well reported.  But last year also exposed how exceptionally unstable income is for food and beverage professionals. We rely on a model unlike anything our peers in other industries contend with, making basic things such as financial planning and saving especially difficult.

Our goal in making the change is to create a better workplace and one where we all have a little more financial stability. We think those are ideas everyone can get behind.
